the banning of coca leaf chewing seems pointless...no matter if the UN succeeds in this endeavor or not, the ritual will still continue. similar to marijuana, weed, and other narcotic drugs it will probably just be done "undercover"! its OK to create laws for health related purposes or if it is dangerous and inhumane, but from what it seems like the coca leaf has plenty of perks:-) i don't know, i kind of think they should stay out of the whole situation, after all its tradition in most cases...
I always thought marijuana and weed were the same thing,but okay. The chewing of Coca leaves is no longer a riotual due to the fact it is being abused for everyday purpose as a sociable gathering. The main purpose of this plant was to reliev pain from the long days of labor of the Andeane ancestors. Now it is being used, to get high. What happen to rituals?? What happen to the pride of ones culture????
