Blog Reflections...

I enjoyed doing these blogs, they were much better than any classwork assignment. I'm actually dreading going back on Monday, I just might continue blogging its pretty neat. It helps to express feelings and emotions that you necessarily wouldn't showcase any other time. This was a great experience and it opened my eyes to a lot of different people's views and opinions. So....BYE BYE for now blogging!

Whatcha Chewin On??!

the banning of coca leaf chewing seems pointless...no matter if the UN succeeds in this endeavor or not, the ritual will still continue. similar to marijuana, weed, and other narcotic drugs it will probably just be done "undercover"! its OK to create laws for health related purposes or if it is dangerous and inhumane, but from what it seems like the coca leaf has plenty of perks:-) i don't know, i kind of think they should stay out of the whole situation, after all its tradition in most cases...

AbUs3....?

the Chris brown and Rhianna abuse incident in my eyes is a bunch of bologna! but it does bring some important issues to the surface. for example the abuse cycle; Rhianna exhibits how most women go back to their abusers. all it takes is one apology, one kiss, one touch and everything is back to normal. this phase is known as the "honeymoon" it only lasts for a short while and then the abuse occurs once again. but this digs deeper then Chris brown and Rhianna, why do people abuse?...why do victims go back?...how do you cope with being abused?......people may stay in abusive relationships because that's all they know. the victims parents were abused or someone in their family was abused and they felt like "that's just the way it is"....or they might stay because their abuser is their sole provider or their abuser wasn't always beating they a**, and their staying for "the change"....whatever the case may be my advice and personal opinion is to LEAVE! if he hits you once and gets away with it he'll most definitely do it again:-(

B@rBi3 d0LLs...

for years there have been arguements about the "infamous" barbie. her sleek physique and superficial lifestyle have a big influence on children especially little girls. barbie is introduced to most girls and some boys at a very young age, i think i got my first barbie when i was about 3 years old. from that moment on we begin to idolise barbie...we want to have clothes like her, we want to be grown like her, we want the malibu beach house and pink corvette, we want the body like hers, we want it all! but it goes much deeper than the physical but it touches emotional aspects as well. have you noticed that there weren't any black barbies or asian barbies or hispanic barbies until about 40 years ago. and even still they aren't so common. most barbies look the same peach skin, blond hair, blue eyes, slim waist and full figured...and that subliminally gives these young girls the perseption that this is how they should look, like a BARBIE....this article really opened my eyes on this subject and made me take a look at my own experience with barbie as a little girl!

To Execute or Not....

when it comes to economics vs morals i think they should be equal. a decision to eliminate something as crucial as the death penalty should not only be based on the economy but the morality of the issue as well. for this article i guess I'll be riding the fence! the states that are considering eliminating the death penalty should most definitely consider the financial aspect...how much money it costs and how much money is being wasted. the government has to pay for the execution facility, pay for the methods of execution, and also pay for the extra space needed to seclude the death row inmates from the general prisoners. but they also need to think about how those sentenced to death row and those that are actually executed get the easy way out. its a much worse sentence to stay in jail for the rest of your life; without any hot home cooked meals, no more family time, no more freedom, and basically have a much suckier way of life, than to just get killed and escape it all. so....in cases like these economics and morals both need to be considered!

T.G.I.F!!!!!

It's Friday and the school day is almost done! I can't wait for this weekend...I'm going to work tonight....work tomorrow....get my hair done....hit the club for Tina's 18th BDAY(lol)...then Sunday I'm in a beauty pageant. This weekend should be the greatest, Tina is like one of my best friends and she goes through so much in her life, its finally time for her to enjoy herself. We're gonna have a girl's night out and its gonna be the greatest! I'm kind of nervous for my pageant Sunday, I was in one about a year ago and I lost the overall title by 1 point....ONE MEASLY POINT! I don't want to do it again and feel like a failure, but it is a good experience overall. My dress is pretty its RED and my casual outfit and routine is really nice...this time a lot of my family and my boyfriend is going to be there too because my little sister is in it too. I can't wait to see how everything goes!

Assisted Suicides.....i think not!

In response to the article, I feel the whole situation is CRAZY! Like I can somewhat understand if a terminally ill patient in a hospital would no longer want to suffer. But as far as writing an "exit" book, that's a bit much. And sending it to hundreds of people...aiding hundreds of people without doctors consent or presence....in a sense participating in the murder of hundreds of people is inhumane and disturbing. Honestly what is the world coming to?? Yeah people have the right and complete control over their bodies and their lives but....I don't know this is a touchy subject for me. The whole situation isn't cool whether a doctor is present or not actually. The book taught people "painless, short, and easy ways to end their lives"; by using helium gas and a plastic hood! That is outrageous and definitely shouldn't be legalised. Death is a tragedy and suicide in general being the most obscene way to go....why assist people???WHY!!!

I'm Goin......idk

I'm going somewhere far from here...a place where people don't die everyday...a place where I won't feel any heartache and pain....a place where the sun always shines....a place to escape all life's stresses...whether this place is real or a figment of my imagination...hopefully one day i'll arrive to that special place!

Growing Pains

I turned 18 on January 8Th and believe me it was overdue. I been grown for as long as I can remember and now that time is winding down, I want to be a kid again lol. Well not really but I got accepted to my first choice college which is Howard University in Washington D.C. that's so far from home. College in general is a nerve wrecking situation but in a positive way. I have to learn to be independent, and make all new friends and remain focused in the midst of so many fine young men and parties galore! Anyways as time is drawing near and June is getting closer I'm getting a little nervous but I can't wait for the experience!
